My name is Rose and I am a Registered Clinical Counselor (RCC) and Sex Therapist in the province of British Columbia, Canada. I am also a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) in the state of Louisiana working under the supervision of Portia Gordon. This site focuses on my Canadian services, please visit Turning Point Counseling to connect with me in the state of Louisiana.
I currently offer individual sessions, 55 minutes in length, for adults. My practice is driven by a social justice framework. You will receive sex-positive, queer, kinky, polyamorous, neurodivergent affirming care. I’m available to discuss a variety of topics including, but not limited to sexuality, race, identity, intimacy, STIs, values, embodiment, gender, grief, trauma, jealousy, conflict and fantasy.
You can read a bit about my approach by checking out the blog section of this website. In addition to exploring gender, nonmonogamy, chronic illness, power dynamics and race, I also provide a general overview of therapy and some snippets about how I practice and elements of my philosophy. I am continuously adding new content!
Journeying into the counseling world:
I was spiritually guided into the counseling profession early on in life. Through the process of navigating my own personal challenges and overcoming the difficulties that come with living and loving in our world, I am here to provide an inclusive, diverse and radically self-compassionate form of support to clients. We live in an ever divided and tumultuous society which can feel destabilizing and isolating. The better we understand and resource ourselves, our paths forward becoming increasingly clear.
I was privileged to see a therapist for the first time at the age of 12 and knew fairly quickly that this was the path for me. When I was 14, I surveyed my female classmates and wrote an article about the vastly negative experiences of my peers when losing their virginity. When I was 16 I announced to my strict, and somewhat intimidating, guidance counsellor that I was destined to be a sex therapist, determined to address this problem I discovered.
At 17, I studied psychology and sexuality at Concordia University in Montreal. In 2019, I trained and practiced as a volunteer therapist through Citizens’ Counseling in Victoria, followed by a Masters in Counseling through City University of Seattle on Vancouver Island. My capstone project focused on counseling the kink and poly communities with a bent on trauma play. I have professional experience working the neurodivergent community. In the following year, I worked supporting members of the HIV+ community.
You, as a client, are the main character in our work together. Your stories, goals, and knowledge of yourself fuel my questions and reflections through the therapeutic process. We would work collaboratively to explore what feels important to better understand, heal from, and gain insight about. I used a strength-based approach. This means that we would spend time exploring the ways in which you already resource yourself.
It is likely that you have already cultivated strengths through your lifetime of experiences on the spectrum of joy and challenge. By applying these existing tools to the task at hand, we creatively reinforce you assets and obtain more desired outcomes. I invite you to join me for a compassionate conversation.
